Slowly But Surely

Spinning is gradually getting faster and smoother - hooray! I’ve been predrafting more frequently, and have modified the Scotch tension system on the wheel. Instead of a cotton/hemp band with a spring, it’s now an elastic drive band that was cut in half and knotted in the necessary places. It’s made a world of difference - I actually have yarn now!

I haven’t decided on just what color to die this yarn yet - I’d love a deep, dark cherry red; at the same time, a pine green or apricot or peach would be a pleasant change from the grey and blue of the sweater I’m almost finished with.

It’s great to be making progress, however I still think it will be a while before I get good, consistent ‘worsted’ or lace-weight yarns, unless I’m working with silk and spinning from the fold. Which is next on the to-do list; the silk top I have is just too much to resist!
