Six & A Half Yarn Shops

Six and a half yarn shops that you love and recommend… let’s get this party started!

Topping the list is KnitPicks - famous for a huge variety of yarn, tools and all sorts of goodies, plus patterns you will only find at KnitPicks, these guys deserve their status as a top online knitting shop!

Kaleidescope Yarns is second on the list, with a wide variety of designer and unique yarns, not to mention supplies! Fantastic customer service and faster than light shipping (same day or next day, every time I’ve ordered) - these guys are a great choice if you need something fast, where ever on the globe you live! Fantastic all around, these guys are highly recommended.

Webs gets third billing, with a huge selection of almost anything a fiber artist could need, and a great selection of unusual yarn types! I’ve found some yarns here that I have only seen on the manufacturer’s home page - great place to go if you need a hard-to-find yarn!

Yarn Market is next; I love these guys not so much for their huge selection, but because for almost any yarn you can find in their store, they can show you at least one pattern you can make with it. In addition to showing you the patterns, they also give you the option to purchase a pattern kit, which includes the pattern, yarn, needles and extra tools and notions that you might need for the project. A drop down powered feature, it’s great when you have fallen in love with a new yarn, but have no clue what to make with it!

Yarnzilla is an adorable, and well designed, site with a good sized selection of yarn, patterns and tools - including some I had never heard of until I stopped by! Definitely a site to add to the favorites list - stop by and check them out, if you haven’t yet!

Last, but definitely not least, are the creative, funky, zany, beautiful and breathtaking hand spinners of Etsy. From custom orders to custom colorways all the way down to silk and merino, it doesn’t get much better than this. As many designs and weights as any yarn shop, you also get the pleasure ofsupporting an artisan who takes pride in working with their hands. A search for hand spun yarn will turn up pages of gorgeous yarns in every color of the rainbow and then some. If you haven’t stopped by yet, there is no better time than now!

If you have another yarn shop you’d like to recommend, or a story to tell about a shop we have listed here, let us know! I’m off to get some yarn ready to list in our Etsy shop, and do a bit of knitting. Enjoy your Sunday!

Peace and knitty,
Oriri (:
