Three yarns done in as many days, with Fireworks on the wheel as we speak. A shipment of SoySilk in this week, Merino and mulberry silk on the way too, as well as Bamboo spinning fiber. That said, I am not allowed to go shopping until I sell something or win the lottery. Damn husbands and their financial wisdom!
I’m trying to use up all of my dyed fiber before moving on to the new fibers… I’m not sure if I’ll make it once the bamboo gets in, as I’ve been itching to try that fiber for a good long time, and there has been some interest in how it works out as a yarn. I really should list some SoySilk yarns on Etsy next, seeing as how I have over a pound of it sitting, ready to be spun, on my desk… it’s just so hard to let go of that yarn! Proof: I finished knitting up a long rectangle for an afghan I have planned in SoySilk, however I carry the finished bit around with me to stroke and gaze lovingly at. (My kids love the knit up bit and try to take it from me as well.) If SoySilk ever show up in my Etsy shop, it will only be with much angst and shedding of tears. Or because I want to buy more. You know, either way, right?
Faded Rose has been put on a back burner. Trying to spin thread-weight yarn was bringing out the sailor in me, so I’m going to work on other less cursed yarns. It’s still a beauty of a colorway, so I know I’ll come back to it soon. For reference, this is Faded Rose:

In the shop currently, I’ve got Little Red Dress and Fathom - Little Red Dress seems to be relatively popular if views are anything to go by. It’s a gorgeous yarn with a great hand, and my first navajo ply. Which was fun, interesting, but fun. Definitely more enjoyable than actually spinning Little Red Dress. For some reason, the silk top stuck together hard core after dyeing, even after lots of tugging and fluffing. It didn’t inspire as much of the sailor as Faded Rose did, but there was much irritation with the fibers sticking together. Fireworks, luckily, isn’t proving to be as difficult. And pictures, just because I can and love photos…
Fathom:
Little Red Dress:
and of course, Fireworks before spinning:
I have no idea why, but I love artsy yarn photos. It’s the Fiber Geek in me, I suppose.
Well, I’m off to work on Fireworks, and if I am lucky, sneak in a late afternoon nap. Happy Hump Day everyone!
Peace and knitty,
Oriri (:

As a roving I love the Fireworks but I feel that the Faded Rose would make a yarn that is easier to knit with. Rich colour changes can detract from a knitted pattern where subtle colour changes don’t.
