How much fiber is too much fiber? More specifically - how much of your favorite fiber is too much fiber? Two pounds? Three? Five? Or is the amount limited to how much you can carry in several trips and how much your house can hold? When is it too much?

I ask, because I find myself wanting to stash fibers. I have become a fiber-holic, to an extreme I never visited with yarn. This goes beyond wholesale daydreams. This is plotting and planning ways to have manufacturing quantities of bamboo top delivered to my house. Yes, bamboo. I want as much as I can hold, as much as I can carry, as much as I can store in every cubby, crawl and storage space in my house. I love it. I carry small skeins around with me when I go grocery shopping, just so I can have the pleasure of petting it. Hand spun bamboo yarn has no competition. It is enough to have me purchase several sets of double pointed needles with the only purpose of knitting myself socks out of my hand spun bamboo yarn. I’ve got it THAT bad. What’s worse, it’s spreading. My husband has suggested that maybe I could knit him a fine weight t-shirt out of bamboo. He had no interest in fine merino, or silk… not even SoySilk, which is wonderful in it’s own right. Not cotton. No wools. He wants bamboo. Not that I blame him - I have visions of wrapping myself in bamboo yarn as well. I haven’t, mind you - I don’t have enough bamboo yarn spun just yet.

I have faith that this obsession will burn itself out sooner or later. I may end up with a closet full of bamboo yarn, and a garage full of bamboo top… but I’m sure it will sooner or later. And if it doesn’t… well, I guess I will eventually have enough bamboo yarn to roll around in.
