Unpacking And Not Unpacking

There is something painfully daunting about unpacking, and even more so when you have to reassemble an entire spinning wheel without the now long-lost directions. My poor wheel is still in the box, right over in the corner, packed in it’s original box, stuffed to the seams with yarn and bags of unspun fiber. And I just haven’t been able to bring myself to unpack it. But whether it’s the fear of it being broken and postal insurance claims or of having lost a part and/or not being able to remember how to put it together that is stopping me from getting started, I haven’t quite figured out yet.

In all reality, if I can assemble two desks with no directions that professional movers couldn’t figure out how to put back together, I can put my wheel back together. The same goes for putting all my other spinning equipment together and happily situated in a well-suited location. But I haven’t. Instead I’ve knit bits and pieces of socks for my kids and read book after book - from soap making to sales, Wheel of Time to Harry Potter. (Both HP and the Wheel of Time series are well worth the reading, in case you haven’t read or started reading them yet.) I’ve been half-heartedly trying to get up the courage to contact wholesalers again, to apply for my business license and DBA for this state and getting the business ball rolling again, all while juggling (partially) unsuccessful house and furniture hunting, plus getting my oldest enrolled in school for the first time. So much to do, along with the unpacking and organizing and settling in that invariably comes with a major move.

So far so good, but part of me really feels like I should be doing more, doing everything. Reality check; I can’t. And the unofficial day off I took this weekend to read Harry Potter start to finish was SO worth it. Now if I could just motivate myself to fold some laundry and vacuum… ;)

It’s good to see you back. I would have thought that the wheel would be far easier to reassemble than furniture but I know where the assembly instructions are if that’s any help.
