I am so glad it is Friday, and that Friday is done! This has been a heck of a week, and today was just the kind of day to end it. Completely and totally random.
I went to bed last night feeling crummy, the beginnings of a cold kicking in. I woke up this morning feeling a bit like death warmed over. I don’t quite know how I made it out of bed and into clothes this morning, but I eventually ended up dressed before heading out to face the world. Thankfully so, because I just can’t see taking my 5 year old to preschool in 20 degree weather while in the nude ending well for anyone.
The morning was the worst part of the day. Eventually the Tylenol kicked in and I felt less like death warmed over and more like the living dead. Which meant I now had no excuse to do nothing. So I set about getting stuff done. Cleaned, played on Ravelry, cleaned some more, chased kids, evaluated the progress on my January goals. (I’ve been slacking, apparently.) Picked the 5 year old up from school and took all three Yarn Babies to the Library. They got to play on the Kids Room computers, and I brought home 12 books. One on art, one on color, nine on business and one on relationships, just for the hell of it – Sex & The Married Girl. It’s actually a pretty good book so far.
Discussed SSL with my husband when he came home from work. In the bath tub. We have some of the best conversations in the tub, I kid you not. He can’t run away from me in there, so I can ramble about yarn and ask his opinion. And I can’t very well run away from him when he gets all Server & Network Alpha Geek on me. It works, as crazy as it sounds.
Tacos for dinner, followed by me pondering the differences between MS Money and Quicken’s money software. Yarn Babies went to bed, and I set upon the post-dinner kitchen. While cleaning the aforementioned kitchen, I realized that, when it comes to how much I really do like waking up to a clean house on Saturdays, I have become my mother – again. Which I really don’t mind – she’s one of my Heroes. And a lot cleaner than I am, too.
Oh, and a dear friend of mine called me to tell me to check my PayPal account this afternoon – she had sent over the payment for her custom order! It’s hand spun and hand dyed bamboo yarns in a particularly chosen set of colors for a very specific project she has in mind, and I’m really excited about doing it. It gives me an excuse to play with my wheel, and another reason to work with my dyes.
Besides, I haven’t been doing nearly enough spinning or dyeing lately. Only two blanks dyed this week, and those were just done tonight, after all of the other events and responsibilities of the day were done. The things we go through to play with our string! Still, these look good right now, and should turn out nicely once they are finished. I’m hoping to get more done this weekend. With the Ravelry ad starting February 1st , I really need to get a lot more in the shop, even after everything from Etsy is transferred over. It may not be a huge deal in the end, but hey, the more I have in there, the better the chances are, right? Right!
Man, reading back over this entry…. TGIF! I’m not sure if my brain can take many more days like the ones I’ve had this week… I hope your’s have been calmer and a bit less brain-draining.
Welcome to the Weekend everyone!
